The Stories Behind West Virginia Sports

Two-Way Player

Coming this season

Student-athlete series

Two-Way Player

Everybody's got a second position.

There's the athlete, and then there's everything else — the one who plays cello, or fixes engines, or runs the family farm before practice, or teaches Sunday school, or is first in the class.

Two-Way Player is about student-athletes who are genuinely excellent at something that has nothing to do with their sport. Not a well-rounded-kid puff piece. A real look at what it takes to be two things at once when there aren't enough hours for one.

Every episode starts with a nomination — from a coach, a teacher, a teammate, a parent, or the athlete themselves. Nominations are open now, before the first episode airs.

What to expect

  • One student-athlete per episode, told in their own words
  • Nominated by the people who know them
  • Open to MSAC athletes at every level
  • The sport is the starting point, not the story

Nominations are open

You don't have to wait for the first episode to put someone forward. Tell us who deserves this and why — it takes about two minutes.

Nominations stay open all season. Submit one here.

Two-Way Player — we're looking for MSAC student-athletes who excel at something besides their sport.
